Fur Traders Pull Out Late-Game Win, 7-6
|
Bergin O'Nunan had a good game, but he could not keep the Westwood Sixshooters from falling, 7-6, to the Tacoma Fur Traders at Ballpark of Tacoma. The Westwood center fielder went 3 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 in the loss. The win went to Ed Cook in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Peter Dupree took the loss. The victory gives Tacoma a record of 39-26.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jorge Rivera in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Peter Dupree to win the game for Tacoma. The home crowd went nuts.
"The ending was a real humdinger," Rivera told reporters after the game.
