Farmers Lose, 3-1, to Pine Island
|
Pine Island and Lancaster played a hard-fought contest.
In a low-scoring game between the Pine Island Dolphins and the Lancaster Farmers, pitcher Dan Clark was masterful on the mound. The Pine Island right-hander spearheaded his team's 3-1 win. William Bishop earned the save for Pine Island, his 8th of the year.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Nazeem Abdul-Basit? The Pine Island third baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Dolphins on top, 2-1. For the game, Abdul-Basit had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"I like our moxie," said Dolphins manager Jorge Villanueva.
At 41-31, the Dolphins are currently second in the Menard's AA.
