The Richland Rails beat the Virginia Beach Whales, 6-4, at Virginia Beach Grounds. Rubén López, in particular, was impressive. He went 1-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The Rails lead the Menard's AA by 2½ games.
With Richland leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, López came up to bat against Virginia Beach pitcher Woody Johnston. López hit a cutter to center for a grand slam home run. His 5th home run of the season put the Rails on top, 5-0.
Richland manager Ludovic Fontaine commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
