Fur Traders Win, 7-6, at Pine Island
|
Pine Island second baseman Jim Woods had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-6, to Tacoma at Goodyear Hanger Dome. Woods was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Dave Eaton, the winner, goes to 2-1. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout over 6.2 innings. The 10th-place Fur Traders go to 39-46.
In the top of the first, Pete Davis delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Tacoma right fielder hit a 2-run single, putting the Fur Traders in front, 7-6.
Despite the victory, Davis was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
