Tacoma Sent Home with 6-3 Loss
|
Rails first baseman Rubén López left his mark on his team's 6-3 win over the Tacoma Fur Traders. López, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2057 draft, went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for Richland in the contest. The winner was Stan Carter, who threw 97 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 9 hits. Allan Lawrence was credited with the save for Richland, his 2nd of the season.
Matt Turner had a big 2-run home run for the Rails in the bottom of the second inning. With Richland leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a knuckle curve from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Geoffrey McBride and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Rails on top, 3-0.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said López. "You've got to get results."
Richland leads the Menard's AA by 2 games.
