Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Richland Rails and Tacoma Fur Traders.

Ernesto Valdéz brought his A-game to help Richland defeat the Tacoma Fur Traders, 1-0. Valdéz got the win, improving to 9-3. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. He allowed no runs. Martino Salazar, who is tied for 5th in the 3AA in holds with 5, nailed down the save.

Had Troy Frost not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Frost hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Rails.

"Ernesto did what Ernesto does," said Richland manager Todd Hines.

The Rails bumped their record to 49-40 with this latest triumph.
