Rails Suffer 5-2 Home Defeat
The Yakima Hops dealt the Richland Rails a 5-2 loss at Rails Ballpark. Thomas Austin was the star on offense. He was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. Yakima reliever Paco Logrono was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Ron Gunther took the loss. Juan Martínez got the save, the 6th for him this season.

Yakima used the timely hitting of Flip van Campen to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hops on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

van Campen told a Yakima Daily News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.

The second-place Rails have dropped 4 straight games.
