Rails 2-1 Winners Versus Yakima
|
The Richland Rails claimed a close win over the Yakima Hops, due in large part to Dan Cortés. The Richland right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. Cortés yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-1. Kent Coleman earned the save for Richland, his 27th of the year.
Richland right fielder Damien Nowak landed a blow when he belted a solo home run in the top of the sixth. It was his 8th home run of the season. With it, the Rails took a 2-1 lead.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Cortés.
Richland is now 56-40, while Yakima is 53-43.
