Fur Traders Earn Late 6-5 Win
|
The Tacoma Fur Traders faced a tough opponent in Ottawa pitcher Donald Hamm, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Tacoma by a final score of 6-5. Hamm went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Francisco Alonzo earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 4-3. Tacoma is now 45-53, while Ottawa is 44-54.
Burt Roy was the walk-off hero for Tacoma. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Fur Traders designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This stadium was a-rockin'," said Roy.
