Rails Rally Late to Nip Sixshooters
|
The Richland Rails did just enough to sneak past the Westwood Sixshooters, 6-5, at Rails Ballpark. Richland shortstop Mark Woods, in particular, had a standout performance. Richland pitcher Justin Joseph got the win, upping his record to 2-4. Tim Day got the loss. The Rails sit in second place in the Menard's AA with a record of 61-39.
Kyle Nelson was the walk-off hero for Richland. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rails first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Woods told the Richland Chronicle.
