Pine Island Rallies to 12-7 Win
|
The Virginia Beach Whales got a sterling performance from right fielder Don Knight, but the Pine Island Dolphins still prevailed, 12-7. Knight was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The Dolphins have now won 4 straight.
Pine Island used the timely hitting of Martín Quintana to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Dolphins on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Quintana. "But I have better dreams after a win."
