Providence Pilgrims starter Scotty Baker was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Philadelphia Liberty Academy, 5-1. Baker yielded 1 run over 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. His record improves to 1-0. The Pilgrims raised their record to 3-1.

John Gudmestad had a big solo home run for the Pilgrims in the top of the fourth inning. With Providence leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Cody Hull and swatted a home run to right. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pilgrims ahead, 2-0.

"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Pilgrims manager Arturo Rochel.
