The Northville Eclipse defeated the Providence Pilgrims, 6-0, in part because of first baseman Steve Smith. Smith went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Eclipse. David Dickey got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 7 hits in 8 innings. Northville is now 3-4.
In the top of the fourth of a scoreless game, Smith hit a grand slam home run to put his team ahead.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Smith.
