The Philadelphia Liberty Academy converted a terrific effort from starter Don Swift into a win over the Squirrel Hill Pierogis at Field of the Rawhides. The Liberty Academy won the game by a final score of 5-2. The win gives Philadelphia a record of 5-3.

Philadelphia won the game in part because of Andre Cowan. The shortstop ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Liberty Academy ahead, 4-1. For the game, Cowan had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"Don was doing a good job pouring in strikes," said Philadelphia manager Clarence Miller.
