St. Petersburg picked up a win at Baby Thunder Dome, bumping off the Minnesota Loons, 6-3. Pitcher Hal Gaines was a major reason the Thunder emerged victorious. Minnesota drops to 6-4.

Gaines, who was born in Brandon, Florida, threw 89 pitches over 7.2 innings, while allowing no runs.

"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Gaines.
