The Asheville Highlanders took Philadelphia pitcher Kasper Berg's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Liberty Academy Field. The final score had Asheville getting past the Liberty Academy, 6-4. Berg went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 6. Getting the save was Christian Wilson, his 1st. The win gives Asheville a record of 11-6.
Asheville used the clutch hitting of Matt Askin to snag the win. The right fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Highlanders ahead, 6-3. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"I still think this team can play even better," Askin told the Asheville Citizen.
