Loons Procure 6-3 Victory
|
Though he had a terrific game, Yataro Murakami could not prevent his team, the Billings Polar Bears, from absorbing a loss. Minnesota won the game, 6-3. Murakami was 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk. Billy Warren earned the win for Minnesota. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 3-1. Quincy Tuffin recorded the save, his 1st.
With a runner on 2nd and one out in the top of the third inning, third baseman Pat Morgan delivered big for the Loons. Minnesota was trailing 2-0 when he belted a 2-run home run.
Minnesota manager Calvin Beck was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
The first-place Polar Bears now sit at 16-8.
