Loons Sneak By Eclipse, 2-1
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Minnesota Loons and Northville Eclipse.
Minnesota beat Northville on the strength of starting pitcher Rich Long's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 2-1. Wilbert McCabe notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 2-1.
Esteban Colón delivered a big hit for Minnesota. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Loons ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"I'm happy we won," said Long. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
The second-place Loons have a record of 22-15.
