Miners Cut Down Fat Cats, 10-7
The Marquette Miners withstood an impressive performance by Ottawa shortstop Lou Werner to defeat the Fat Cats, 10-7, at Marquette Stadium. Werner was 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Mario Ledezma, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save. At 22-23, the Miners find themselves in 5th place in the Silver AA.

The Miners grabbed the lead in the bottom of the second. With one out, Jason James, who is tied for 6th in the SAA in RBI with 31, hit a grand slam home run off Luis Ríos, putting Marquette in front, 6-0. For James, it was his 9th home run of the season.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Miners manager Adrián Hernández. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
