The Gulf Coast Turbeaus picked up a win at Mobile Home Park, taking down the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs, 5-1. Starting pitcher Terry Ward was a big reason why. The winner was Ward. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Randy Pierce. John Harris closed the game out for Gulf Coast, earning his 1st save.

Héctor Castro cracked a home run off Randy Pierce in the bottom of the first. His 2-run blast put the Turbeaus on top, 2-0. In all, Castro had 2 singles in addition to the home run, while going 3 for 5.

"Terry definitely kept his composure, kept making pitches," said Gulf Coast manager Melvin McCullough.

Gulf Coast is now 26-22, while Gwinnett is 28-20.
