Fighting Imps Reel In 5-3 Win
|
Spirited fans greeted the Gulf Coast Turbeaus for their clash with the Ithaca Fighting Imps.
Behind the hitting of Larry Gunther, the Ithaca Fighting Imps stopped the Gulf Coast Turbeaus, 5-3. Gunther went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Fighting Imps. The 7th-place Fighting Imps hiked their record to 23-25.
With Ithaca leading 4-3 in the top of the eighth, Gunther hit a run-scoring single off Gulf Coast hurler Brandon Martin. It was the 26th hit of the season for Gunther and put his team ahead, 5-3.
Ithaca manager Jeffrey Lewis called it "a darn good win."
