The Philadelphia Liberty Academy knocked off the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs, 5-2, in USSL Double A action at Experimental Stadium. Philadelphia pitcher and Hoffman Estates, Illinois, native Vicente Torres had an outstanding performance. Tanzan Jouda sewed up the save, his 17th. The Liberty Academy now own a record of 28-26.
Vanni Perkins dealt the Guinea Pigs a blow in the top of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and Philadelphia leading 2-0, Perkins hit a 0-1 cutter for a 2-run single.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Torres said.
