Blues Send Philadelphia Home with 5-1 Loss
|
Aaron Arnold pitched a gem to lead Barton Springs to victory over the Philadelphia Liberty Academy, 5-1. Arnold, now 4-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Tom Butler closed the game out for Barton Springs, earning his 13th save.
Barton Springs used a well-timed hit by Kevin Smith to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Blues ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"We came in and did what we needed to do," said Barton Springs manager Francisco Pelaez.
With this game in the books, Barton Springs is 28-34, Philadelphia 32-30.
