Late Offense Lifts Philadelphia to 5-1 Victory
Philadelphia pitcher Michael Adkins did his part in helping his team beat the Arizona Javelina, 5-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Adkins, now 6-5, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 0, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Philadelphia raised its record to 33-31 with the win.

Andre Cowan drove in one run for Philadelphia. The 27-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Rusty Oomsen. It was his 19th RBI of the season.

"It feels good to get this one," Cowan told the Philadelphia Chronicle.
