Highlanders Suffer 5-3 Loss to Mariachis
|
Marcus Rollock, who is tied for 4th in the SAA in quality starts with 9, had a strong outing for the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis against the Asheville Highlanders at Mariachi Band Shell. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Rollock yielded 2 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 12-3. Carlos Romero, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save.
Eric Sullivan had a big 2-run home run for the Mariachis in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Nuevo Mexico leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Carlos Maldonado and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Mariachis on top, 3-0.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Sullivan.
The Silver AA-leading Mariachis have a record of 41-23.
