Philadelphia Rallies for 7-3 Win
|
Arizona got a terrific performance from pitcher Kenny Wallace, but it wasn't enough to beat the Philadelphia Liberty Academy. Philadelphia won the Liberty Academy Field contest, 7-3. Wallace threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Philadelphia reliever Tim Jones was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Pedro De Jesús took the loss. Philadelphia has won 3 straight, while Arizona has lost 3 in a row.
In the bottom of the eighth, Philadelphia designated hitter Tim Petras gave his team the lead. With no one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Coconuts hit his 1st double of the year. Arizona pitcher Pedro De Jesús surrendered it. With that, the Liberty Academy jumped in front, 4-3.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Philadelphia manager Clarence Miller.
