Highlanders Win Nail-Biter
The Asheville Highlanders picked up a win at Asheville Park, taking down the Minnesota Loons, 5-4, in 10 innings. On the mound for Asheville was right-hander Charlie Leslie. He played a central role in the triumph. The winner was Asheville reliever Dave Wilson, now 6-3. The loser was Mark Conner. The Highlanders sit in second place in the Silver AA with a record of 51-36.

Doug Malone played the role of hero for Asheville. In the bottom of the tenth, he launched a 2-run home run off Mark Conner to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was the decisive blow.

"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Chris Sanders.
