Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Ogres

The Ogre Den was the site of a tense game between the St. Petersburg Thunder and Olympia Ogres.
The Olympia Ogres racked up a win at The Ogre Den, bumping off the St. Petersburg Thunder, 3-2. Rich Banks, who started for Olympia, pitched effectively for his team. Picking up the save was Juan Galván, his 17th.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Ryan Taylor came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing St. Petersburg pitcher Alfonso Escamilla, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Olympia on top, 1-0.
St. Petersburg manager Terrence Eler said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
With the win over St. Petersburg, the Ogres improved to 49-44.
