Blues Snag 4-1 Win
|
The Barton Springs Blues went home winners at Heron Field, thanks in large part to starter Richard Fernández. Fernández stifled the Lake Murray MotorBoaters, enabling Barton Springs to grab the 4-1 win. Tom Butler was credited with the save for Barton Springs, his 20th of the season. With this game in the books, Barton Springs is 43-53, Lake Murray 47-49.
Barton Springs needed the clutch hitting of Troy Blackwell to seal the deal. The shortstop swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blues on top, 4-1. For the game, Blackwell had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Blackwell.
