Polar Bears Pick Up 2-1 Win Over Minnesota
|
The Minnesota Loons wasted an inspired, 6.2-inning effort from starter Jeff Benson, falling, 2-1, to the Billings Polar Bears at Loony Bin. Andrés Chávez earned the save for Billings, his 4th. Yes, it was a win for Billings; but their 33-63 mark is nothing to crow about.
Ryan Witt delivered a big hit for Billings. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Polar Bears ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"Tough loss," said Minnesota manager Calvin Beck. "This one will sting for a while."
