Rainbow Mermaids Snag 8-5 Win
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids and Colorado Billy Goats.

Despite a fine performance by third baseman Jon Gore, the Colorado Billy Goats lost to the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 8-5. Gore was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Northern Virginia reliever Cristián Hernández, now 1-1. The loser was Min Der.

Northern Virginia used a timely hit from Garry Park to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids ahead, 7-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.

"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Park.

The Rainbow Mermaids saw their win-loss record go to 46-50. At the same time, the Billy Goats fell to 47-49.
