With 3-2 Win, Mockingbirds Go to 15-12
|
In a low-scoring game between the MSL Mississippi Mockingbirds and the MSL Toledo Stingers, pitcher Ron Elst was the difference-maker. The MSL Mississippi right-hander was tough as nails in the 3-2 Mockingbirds win. Elst, now 4-5, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The Mockingbirds bumped their record to 15-12 with this win.
Reginald Parker had a big 2-run double for the Mockingbirds in the bottom of the fifth inning. With MSL Mississippi leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Pepe Valentín and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mockingbirds ahead, 3-0.
Parker said his team "executed a good game plan."
