Corso, South Beach Open R1 Strong with 5-2 Win
|
The South Beach Blaze got past the Lake Erie Arryns by the score of 5-2 in the crucial first game of the PL A Championship at The Ballpark on the Beach. South Beach second baseman Lee Corso went 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2, to lead the charge. With a 1-0 lead, the Blaze will have two chances to close out the Arryns.
In the top of the eighth, Joren Pelikaan stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Arryns were trailing 5-2, but had the bases loaded. That's when Manny Sexton made a terrific pitch and Pelikaan struck out. Gone was the dream of a Lake Erie comeback.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Ballpark on the Beach in South Beach.
