Multi-HR Game for Mata in 6-4 Win
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Hicksville Hounds and Crowley Cajuns.
The Hicksville Hounds dumped the Crowley Cajuns, 6-4, in large part due to center fielder Santos Mata. On the day, Mata belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the Hounds. Picking up the save was Nick Watson. He's now 5 for 5 in save chances.
The Hounds got a big at-bat from third baseman Chris Gillespie. For the game, Gillespie was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Hicksville a 2-1 lead.
"We're producers not directors," said Mata. "Produce a good swing. Can't direct where it goes."
The victory gives the Hounds a record of 56-41.
