The Toledo Stingers wasted no time taking the lead in the ToC First Round, beating the Hollywood Shredders at The Hollywood Bowl by the score of 8-1. The win gives Toledo a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Stingers right-hander Jesús Rosas threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball.

Toledo won the game in part because of Carlos Manuel. The right fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Stingers ahead, 2-1. For the game, Manuel had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Manuel.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Hollywood Bowl in West Hollywood.
