Patriots Clip Rainbow Mermaids, 6-5, in R2 Contest
The Boston Patriots moved to within one game of the Tournament of Champions, downing the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids on the road at Atlantica by a score of 6-5. Patriots first baseman Gilberto Silva was 2 for 5 with a double, while adding 5 RBI. The win gives the Patriots a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 ToC Semi-Finals.

Boston used the timely hitting of Tyrone Higgins to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Patriots on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I'm proud to wear a Boston jersey," Silva told the Boston Observer. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Atlantica in Hampton.
