Toledo Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in R3
|
The Toledo Stingers got a strong performance from pitcher Gilbert Owen, who stymied the visiting Boston Patriots en route to a win, 5-1, in Game 3 of the Tournament of Champions. The Patriots could never get a bead on the right-handed Owen, who threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The Stingers now hold a 2-1 in the best-of-7 series.
Tyler Harmon hit a bases-clearing triple off Orlando Díaz in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Stingers in front, 4-1. Harmon had 2 singles, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 3 for 4.
"Gilbert is a tough competitor," said Toledo manager David Bunting.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Pacesetter Park in Toledo.
