Walton Stands Out in Lake Erie Shutout
Thursday, June 9th , 2061
Rick Walton of the Lake Erie Arryns spun his magic on the Newmarket Rogues. He blanked them, 8-0, on 3 hits, registering 11 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Walton said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, Lake Erie skipper Louis Espinosa said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations."
"Rick pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said.
Walton has gone 4-1 this season with an ERA of 1.90 and 42 strikeouts in 47.1 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .202 against him.
