Chicago's Bender Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
Sunday, September 3rd , 2062
It was a good day for the Tula at Smokies Stadium as they clipped the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 5-4. It was tremendous day for Tim Bender, who was on a hitting barrage at the plate, finishing 5-for-5.
"I don't know what to call that," the Chicago catcher told reporters after his big performance. "I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' I just try to keep it simple. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then I hit it. Today I picked up the spin pretty well."
Tim Bender singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Mario GarcĂa in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season, Bender is batting .238 with 71 hits, 4 home runs, 26 RBIs, 30 walks, .322 OBP and has scored 34 runs. He has played in 81 games.
