Memphis Shuts Out Long Island, 2-0 Thursday, August 16th , 2063 In an outstanding mound performance, Memphis Mockingbirds starter Carter King fired a complete-game shutout against the Long Island Lighthouse at Magnolia Park. King was the key to the 2-0 Memphis win. The 24-year-old right-hander was in high spirits for much of the game, his mood largely unfazed by the 3 hits and 3 walks he allowed. "3 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter, as long as it was a shutout." This year, King has compiled a 5-3 record with a 3.40 ERA in 11 starts.
