5-Hit Game for Hoban
Sunday, September 24th , 2062
After his 5-hit effort at The Lighthouse was tarnished by Long Island's 9-8 loss to the Philadelphia Liberty, right fielder Duke Hoban told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win."

He didn't get the win, but the 26-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-8 game against the Liberty.

"His swing is getting there," said Lighthouse skipper Michael Esposito after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Duke did that to perfection and we wasted it."

Duke Hoban grounded out in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Bob Hickey in the 5th, flied out in the 6th, doubled in the 9th, singled in the 12th, singled in the 15th and struck out in the 16th.

This year, Hoban has socked 85 hits in 377 at-bats for a .225 average with 5 home runs. He is getting on base at a .286 pace and his totals also include 32 RBIs and 36 runs scored.
