Bad Boy Brawlers Suspended 5 Games Sunday, July 20th , 2059 Dayton's Juan Martínez and Thunder Bay's Benton Johnston have been handed 5-game suspensions for their parts in yesterday's upheaval at Great Northern Field. The teams were notified today that the suspensions would go into effect immediately. According to the league commissioner Martínez and Johnston provoked and incited the brawl and bore the blame for what transpired. This season, Martínez has posted a batting average of .255 with 51 hits in 200 at-bats, 8 home runs and 25 RBIs. He has also scored 28 runs, walked 25 times and compiled a .349 OBP. So far this season, Johnston has compiled a 1-0 won-lost mark with 3 saves and a 2.70 ERA. In 50 innings he has fanned 36 and opponents are hitting him at a .215 clip. |
