Carter Pitches Gem as Leviathan Beat Charleston, 7-0
Saturday, September 22nd , 2063
Stan Carter of the Nova Scotia Leviathan was on top of his game.
The 22-year-old tantalized the Charleston Battery with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 7-0.
"He had the changeup working," Charleston manager Matt Hunt said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Nova Scotia hurler had 7 strikeouts, gave up 2 walks and surrendered 3 hits in his complete-game effort.
Carter told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
For the season, Carter has a record of 7 wins and 5 losses in 20 appearances. He has an ERA of 4.93 and has fanned 85 batters in 129.2 innings.
