Port Royal's Carter Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
Tuesday, July 10th , 2057
Even as a kid, Richard Carter said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Ballpark of Port Royal, Carter showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 31-year-old first baseman had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Port Royal Disaster, helping his team knock off the Monongahela Monsters by a score of 9-8.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."
Richard Carter singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off John Pope in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI double in the 10th.
This season, Carter is swinging the bat at a .340 pace. He has hit 8 home runs and scored 29 times, while driving in 36. His on-base percentage is .450 and he has played in 48 games.
