Monterrey Says Goodbye to Baseball Thursday, May 11th , 2062 Salt Lake City Buzz catcher Iván Monterrey will retire at the end of the season, according to reports out of team headquarters. Monterrey, 36, has been considering retirement since last season sources say, though he has declined to speak publicly about retirement. "Iván still likes baseball," one source said, "He wants to play, but he also knows he's getting up in age and the skills are not what he wants them to be. He says it's physically getting harder to go out there every day. That's why he's hanging up his spikes." His career numbers show Monterrey has batted .214 and collected 183 hits, 24 home runs and 97 RBIs. |
