Dogfish Head End Soto Streak
Wednesday, May 22nd , 2058
It was the best of both worlds for the Milton Dogfish Head at Crane Field, as they defeated the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 9-0, and also snapped Jesús Soto's 25-game hitting streak. The 24-year-old Santa Barbara first baseman failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Soto, we just wanted to win the game," said Dogfish Head skipper Austin Case. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Soto frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."
Soto on the season is batting .395 with 2 home runs. His totals include 11 RBIs and 5 runs scored. He has played in 18 games.
