Herrera Named Top Reliever for SAAA Saturday, October 8th, 2044 The Reliever of the Year Award goes to the USSL Triple A reliever who put forward the strongest season. This season, that player was Gil Herrera of the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, who was above all his peers in 2044. "I just feel like the ball was doing what I wanted it to this year and I was in command most nights out there," he said. "Some days you don't have your best stuff, but I didn't have too many of those days this year." On the season, Herrera pitched 43.1 innings, with 46 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.91. He also had 6 saves in 28 relief appearances. He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 10. Thomas Sangrey of the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Hugh Hudson of the Kansas Rainbeaus finished third.
