Flamingos White Hanging up His Spikes Friday, August 5th , 2061 Jake White of the Flamingos is hanging it up. The veteran third baseman reportedly told team officials yesterday that he would not return for another season. "The time has come for me to give up a game I love dearly, but the time is right. Baseball has been good for me and I hope I have been good for baseball." "While we are disappointed Jake will not be playing for us next year, I have a tremendous amount of respect for him and the way he went about this decision," said the Florence general manager. Checking out his career figures, White has played in 421 games with a .268 batting average. Among his 446 hits are 87 home runs. He has also scored 224 runs, stolen 4 bases, and driven in 249 runs. |
