Méndez and Silva Fight, Get Suspended Friday, August 31st , 2063 If there wasn't a history between Manuel Méndez of Florence and Roberto Silva of Syracuse, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 3 and 6 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today. "We're both really competitive," Méndez said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it." This year, Méndez is hitting .289 with 83 hits, 8 home runs, 38 RBIs and has scored 29 runs. In 18 starts this season, Silva has rung up a 12-2 record and a 2.94 ERA. |
