Martínez Hit Streak Soars to 20 Games Friday, August 11th , 2062 Gilberto Martínez has been ripping hits every day for a while now, and nobody seems able to stop him. The Virginia Beach second baseman picked up 2 more today against the Tacoma Fur Traders and now has a 20-game hitting streak. The Whales won the game, 11-4. "Definitely somebody's going to stop me at some point," he said later, chuckling. "I'll enjoy it for the time being." Gilberto Martínez struck out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Whitney Westcott in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, struck out in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. Thus far this season, Martínez has hit .352 with 13 home runs, 47 RBIs and scored 39 times. |
