Valdéz Collects Cycle Friday, July 20th , 2063 Jorge Valdéz truly did it all at Marquette Stadium. The Marquette Miners shortstop hit for the cycle -- collecting 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 2 home runs -- as he paced his club to victory, 12-3, over the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs. "You know that sweet sound you hear when you hit the ball just right? I heard that every time today," Valdéz said later. "It was a heck of a feeling." It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed Gwinnett pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats and his name will now go into the record books. Valdéz also racked up 7 runs batted in and 3 runs scored in the game. Jorge Valdéz hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit an RBI triple in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Rod Pritchard in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Juan Martínez in the 8th.
