Loudermilk Rips Nuevo Mexico for 5 Hits Saturday, August 18th , 2063 Even as a kid, Rich Loudermilk said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Mariachi Band Shell, Loudermilk showed how well he learned that lesson. The 24-year-old second baseman had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Vancouver Vipers, helping his team knock off the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis by a score of 9-1. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Rich Loudermilk singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Rafael Gómez in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Dan Mullally in the 8th.
