Loons Win PL AA Championship Crown Thursday, September 24th , 2054 Sometimes the winner is the one who got the lucky bounces and the lucky calls, and sometimes the winner is just the one who played better. It was the latter case in 2054, as the Minnesota Loons topped the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles 8-3 tonight at Loony Bin to win the PL AA Championship. It was the 9th title in franchise history. "When you play for championships, you have to play better than the team in the other dugout. We did that in this series, and all year. Now we're the best team in baseball," said Minnesota first baseman Stephan Tietmeyer, who was named series MVP. The Loons took the series 2-1. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a second-place finish in the Premier AA and a 62-40 record. Minnesota manager Eddie O'Bryan grinned and nodded when asked to comment on Tietmeyer's words. "Stephan said it best -- we played better than the other team," the skipper said.
